Ko Samet is an island on the eastern seaboard of Thailand and is in the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Samet gets it's name from the Cajeput tree which is commonly found around the island. Ko Samet has, in the past, also been called "Ko Kaew Phitsadan" which means "Magic Crystal Island" I would love to tell people that I was born on the Magic Crystal Island.

Ko Samet is very popular with tourists and also a weekend retreat from the hustle and bussle of, nearby, Bangkok.

Traveling to Koh Sumet, is usually via a 'Long Tail Boat' from a small local port called Ban Phe and usually takes 30 minutes to cross over to Ko Samet.

Ko Samet has grown economically over the last decade, but has kept it's character and is best known for its White, Silky Soft beaches and crystal clear waters.
